the american astronaut

The American Astronaut (2001) is an unexpected treasure-trove of cinematic strangeness. It’s somewhere within the realm of David Lynch, Jim Jarmusch, Guy Maddin, and The Forbidden Zone. While definitely not for everyone, if that description appeals to you chances are you will enjoy this film. Excellent cinematography, fun songs (yes, occasionally people break out in song!), and quirky acting make this an odd and unforgettable glimpse into someone else’s dream.
